Facebook lädt zu geheimnisvoller Pressekonferenz

Facebook hat für nächste Woche zu einer Pressekonferenz auf den Campus des Unternehmens im kalifornischen Menlo Park geladen.

Warum? Vielleicht stellt Facebook ein neues Produkt vor oder berichtet über eine Änderung auf der Seite. Es könnte aber auch sein, dass es um das mysteriöse Facebook Phone geht.

Zwar hat Unternehmenschef Mark Zuckerberg Gerüchte darüber, dass Facebook ein Smartphone auf den Markt bringen will, öffentlich zurückgewiesen. Eingeweihte berichten aber, dass das Unternehmen mit Herstellern wie HTC zusammenarbeitet, um Smartphones zu entwerfen. Ein Facebook Phone würde wohl mit einer angepassten Version von Googles Android-Betriebssystem laufen, heißt es.

Zuckerberg sagte im vergangenen September, ein eigenes Smartphone herauszubringen, sei „ganz klar die falsche Strategie für uns“. Stattdessen machte er Andeutungen, dass Facebook an einer Suchmaschine interessiert sein könnte. Schon jetzt laufen auf der Seite über eine Milliarde Anfragen, vor allem von Leuten, die nach ihren Freunden suchen.
